Meagan and Ginger

$750.00

Original painting - 24 x 36" acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

This piece was completed in 2024. I was feeling nostalgic the day I conceived this painting, thinking back to the time of "Anne of Green Gables" where life was a little less complicated. So I attempted to create a period piece from several different reference photos. One of the reference photos was of the actress Meagan Follows, as her hair was during the films where she played Anne of Green Gables. I tried however to make her face look a little more like it does now, and not when she was 20 something. The dress is from another source, the view from the window, the fireplace, the cat, all separate sources. The hands and shoulders are actually mine (yes I do have a tendency to slouch a bit). All in all it was a fun project.

As with most of my art, I like to paint things that give you a sense of tranquility. In this painting, I tried to imagine a pleasant afternoon for a woman during the 19th century and what she might enjoy. And of course, what would be more enjoyable than sitting with her cat.

I hope you enjoy this painting and that it brings you comfort.
